A seasoned franchise executive, John Peyton joined Realogy in October 2016 and became CEO of Realogy’s franchise wing, Realogy Franchise Group (RFG), in 2017. As the leader of this massive franchise company, Peyton influences and directs an enormous segment of residential real estate’s brokers and agents and influences, more than almost anyone else, the industry’s trajectory.

As the leader of RFG, he oversees a powerful portfolio of brands: Coldwell Banker, Century 21, ERA Real Estate, Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, Sotheby’s International Realty and Realogy’s newest brands, Climb Real Estate and Corcoran Group. Together, these brands have over 16,300 offices and almost 300,000 agents in 113 countries, including 760 company-owned NRT offices. However one slices the pie, RFG is a residential real estate brokerage industry heavyweight.

In 2017, RFG closed approximately 1.5 million transactions, meaning that a Realogy-affiliated agent was involved in more than a quarter of all US home sales that year. And although NRT brings in the lion’s share of Realogy’s revenues, the franchise group is the company’s EBITDA king: RFG accounted for $439 million of Realogy’s $552 million in EBITDA for the first nine months of 2018. If an independent company, RFG’s annual revenues would measure roughly four times that of Re/Max and its annual transactions would double that of Keller Williams Realty.

Peyton came to Realogy from a senior vice president position at global hotel and leisure firm Starwood Hotels & Resorts. As head of Starwood’s Global Initiatives team from 2012 to 2014, he directed company global strategy, including supply chain and revenue management initiatives. He has held a number of senior operations and marketing positions for Starwood, including chief marketing officer. Peyton holds an MBA in accounting and marketing from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania.
