Phil Soper Named to Power 200 2015/16
Ranked #20 in North America, and #1 in Canada, is our very own President and CEO, Phil Soper! The annual Swanepoel POWER 200 2015/16 ranking the most powerful people in residential real estate was released this month.
This is a fantastic accomplishment and a measure of the great leadership we enjoy at Royal LePage. We can all take great pride in Phil’s commitment to the industry and his accomplishments, which have contributed to our enviable position as Canada’s Real Estate Company.
Phil Soper is president & CEO of Brookfield Real Estate Services, Inc. (TSE: BRE), Canada’s largest real estate franchisor and owner-operator of more than 650 locations and 17,000 Realtors®, operating under 322 franchise agreements under the Royal LePage, Royal LePage Commercial, Johnston & Daniel, and Via Capitale brands. Brookfield is involved in one out of five real estate transactions in Canada and for the first nine months of 2015, Brookfield’s revenues were up 5.2 percent year over year.
Soper was named president of Royal LePage in 2002, and CEO of Brookfield Real Estate Services in 2004. The business has more than tripled its revenue and doubled its agent-count under his tenure. From 2008 until 2012, Brookfield Real Estate Services made a series of strategic acquisitions in the U.S. market, including GMAC Real Estate, Real Living, and Prudential Real Estate, with a combined agent count of over fifty thousand professionals. In 2012, these businesses became Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, a joint venture between Brookfield and Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway. The new firm was named U.S. Real Estate Agency Brand of the Year in a 2013 according to a Harris EquiTrend study. Prior to joining the real estate industry, Soper was a senior executive with IBM and a former governor of the University of Alberta, the same university he graduated from with a Bachelor of Commerce.
