Awesome Tech Videos (2016)

A few months back we shared with you 10 innovative technology videos, ones that Stefan Swanepoel has been sharing in his Digital Disruptions presentations. Well, here are another 10 amazing videos that are even more exciting and intimidating than the previous ones.

To recap, in 2015 Stefan’s most popular talk has been his Digital Disruption presentations that take a fascinating look at the digital innovations that have not yet been rolled out in real estate. Some of these inventions have been implemented in other industries, while a few are at the early testing stage. These innovations and technologies could however, not only reshape the practices of homebuyers and sellers, but even be used by real estate professionals to redesign the real estate business.

An initiative to develop an open hardware platform creating an open modular hardware ecosystem around smartphones. The platform will include an endoskeleton that holds smartphone modules of the owner’s choice, such as speakers, cameras, compass, extra battery and so forth. The add-ons are endless.



Think Nest. This is similar, but for you bed. It’s the first mattress cover designed to track and improves your sleep by heating or cooling your bed by your personal settings. Luna monitors your heart rate and breathing, which in turn helps analyze your sleep patterns and so much more. Just think the possibilities!



Driverless cars, self-driving robotic cars combined with lasers, cameras and sensors, which allow cars to drive on their own. Companies that are heading towards mainstream are Volkswagen, Mercedes, Volvo, BMW and others have announced future dates to roll out Autonomous Cars. The saying “sit back and relax” has a new meaning.



This stylish car transforms in seconds from an automobile to a slick airplane. It fits into standard parking garage or paces, uses regular gasoline, but can also use an airport, grass strip or paved surface to take off into the skies. Current estimates suggest a 2017 delivery.



The first fully untethered holographic computer that brings you high-definition holograms right into your home and office. Create what you think, and exploration is just in front of you. Expected to start shipping Q1 in 2016.



Radar has been used to track big objects. Now one of Google’s research divisions are using it to track micro small gesture by your hand or fingers. This tiny sensor fits into a micro chip which allows you to turn a dial, turn on or off an electronic device by your tiniest motion. That may soon remove the need for a mouse, click, remote or other handheld devices.



Step away from your computer and control the world without a mouse. The new Myo (Greek word for muscle) armband is a wearable gesture control and motion control device. Quickly motioning your hand to switch slides during a sales presentation will be a motion away.



Wearable’s have become increasingly more noticed in the last two years as the wrist revolution exploded into full swing. But until now smart watches were still connected to your mobile phone. No more. This versatile smart watch allows you to receive calls, manage your calendar and play music, all in a luxury-crafted watch.



Cheetah by MIT’s Biomimetic Robotics Lab – Until now, robots running untethered was the benchmark. Now the cheetah has also become the first four-legged robot to run and jump over obstacles autonomously as it runs. Animal nature redesigned.



New colonies of bees – autonomous solar powered, GPS enabled, flying micro-robots. RoboBees are extremely lightweight, portable, agile, never tire and pollinate huge areas of flowers and crops. Nature improved?
