By attending the workshop, you will learn the 7 steps to consolidation:
How do you stack up? Know what to measure, including overlap of subscribers, firms and listings. What best practices matter most when considering your options - before making decisions and next steps? Take the MLS Survey and know how you compare. You will receive an online self-assessment and scorecard.
02. Market Assessment
The market assessment requires objective, comparable quality market data and intelligence. This results in the efficiency of your market based on the amount of duplication, population densities, etc. We will help measure the efficiency of your market using actual local market data.
03. Transaction Options
Time to evaluate all options to you and your leadership and determine what’s the best one for your brokers and organization. You will receive a decision-making flowchart for your leadership and staff.
04. First Meeting
Once you decide to move into action, it’s time to plan an agenda for a first meeting with your new potential business partners. This typically involves sharing certain information from the self-evaluations and market intel, as well as your vision and philosophies about your future. You will receive sample agenda templates and best practices for the first meeting together.
05. Building Relationships and Trust
Know what it takes to design a future that everyone can believe in. What is the investment and timeline required to achieve your goals? Detail the new vision and confirm what can be done better together that you cannot do on your own. Pick the best products and services and start to design your future and new, bigger and better MLS together. You will learn what works (and what doesn’t), as well as the flow of Roadmap topics and meetings.
06. Structure, Services and Documentation
The consultant, attorney for the process, financial advisors and staff will document relevant details and decisions from the task force including ownership, governance, structure, how the money flows, financial pro-forma, start-up capital required, business model, staffing and products/services. You will receive a summary of materials and recommendations about roles.
07. Consolidation and Transition
